1. Scope
This Refund Policy describes the circumstances under which Global Opportunity Foundation Inc. provides refunds for donations, program fees, event tickets, and other payments. By making a payment to the Foundation, you acknowledge and agree to this Refund Policy.
This Refund Policy does not limit your rights under applicable consumer protection laws. Where applicable law provides greater protections, those protections apply.
2. Charitable Donations
Charitable donations to the Foundation are generally non-refundable. We rely on donations to fund our programs, and once contributions are received, they are typically committed to charitable use.
2.1 Discretionary Refunds
The Foundation may, in its sole discretion, provide a refund in the following circumstances:
- Duplicate transaction: if you accidentally submit the same donation more than once
- Unauthorized transaction: if a donation was charged to your payment method without your authorization
- Clear input error: if you entered an amount substantially different from what you intended (for example, $1,000 instead of $100)
- Technical error: if a technical malfunction caused an unintended transaction
2.2 Refund Timeline
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing within thirty (30) days of the original transaction date. Requests submitted after thirty days will generally not be granted unless required by applicable law.
2.3 Refund Method
Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method when feasible. If the original payment method is no longer valid (for example, a credit card has expired), we will work with you to provide the refund by alternative means.
2.4 Tax Acknowledgment Adjustment
If you have already received a tax acknowledgment for a donation that is later refunded, we will issue a corrected acknowledgment. You are responsible for adjusting your tax reporting accordingly. Consult a tax professional for guidance.
3. Recurring Donations
You may cancel a recurring donation at any time through your account, through the link in any donation confirmation email, or by contacting giving@globalopportunityfoundation.org. Cancellation takes effect before the next scheduled charge. Charges that have already been processed are generally non-refundable but may be reviewed for refund under Section 2.1 above.
3.1 Failed Payments
If your recurring donation payment fails, we will attempt to process it again on subsequent business days. If multiple attempts fail, we will email you and may cancel the recurring donation. We do not retain or charge alternative payment methods on file without your express authorization.
4. Program Fees
Some Foundation programs charge fees (for example, paid certifications, premium bootcamps, or special conferences). Refunds of program fees are governed by the terms applicable to each specific program, which will be disclosed at registration. As a general matter, in the absence of program-specific terms:
- Full refund: requests received more than thirty (30) days prior to program commencement
- Fifty percent (50%) refund: requests received between fifteen (15) and thirty (30) days prior to program commencement
- No refund: requests received fewer than fifteen (15) days prior to program commencement, or after program commencement
4.1 Substitutions
For programs that permit substitutions, you may transfer your registration to another eligible participant prior to program commencement at no additional charge, subject to the substitute's compliance with program eligibility requirements.
4.2 Withdrawal for Cause
If the Foundation withdraws a participant from a program for violation of program rules or these terms, no refund is due. If the participant withdraws for medical or other documented hardship, the Foundation may, in its discretion, provide a partial refund or credit toward a future program.
5. Event Tickets and Registrations
Refunds for ticketed events (including the Annual Opportunity Summit, regional conferences, and workshops) are governed by the terms of each specific event, disclosed at registration. As a general matter, in the absence of event-specific terms:
- Full refund: requests received more than sixty (60) days prior to the event
- Fifty percent (50%) refund: requests received between thirty (30) and sixty (60) days prior
- No refund: requests received fewer than thirty (30) days prior, or after the event begins
The Foundation may, in its discretion, offer a credit toward a future event in lieu of a cash refund.
5.1 Travel and Accommodations
The Foundation is not responsible for travel or accommodation expenses incurred in connection with event attendance, including in the event of program cancellation or rescheduling. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance.
6. Non-Cash Gifts
Gifts of stock, securities, real estate, cryptocurrency, tangible personal property, and other non-cash assets are generally not refundable once received. If you believe a non-cash gift was made in error or under exceptional circumstances, contact our Major Gifts Officer at giving@globalopportunityfoundation.org for review.
For gifts of cryptocurrency, please note that we generally convert digital assets to U.S. dollars promptly upon receipt; any market fluctuation between donation and conversion is not eligible for refund.
7. Force Majeure
If the Foundation cancels a program or event due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including natural disasters, public health emergencies, acts of war or terrorism, government actions, or other force majeure events), we will offer registered participants a refund of fees paid, less any non-refundable third-party costs already incurred on their behalf, or a credit toward a future program at our discretion.
8. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer regarding a payment to the Foundation, we ask that you first contact us to attempt to resolve the matter. Chargebacks impose significant costs on the Foundation and divert resources from our charitable mission. If a chargeback is initiated, we may suspend your account pending resolution and may take steps to recover the disputed amount and associated chargeback fees.
9. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, submit a written request including:
- Your full name and contact information
